This is what I sent the branch manager- My father who is 70 years old and handicapped had recently purchased a safe deposit box at your Manhattan Beach branch. Today we went in to deposit over 70lbs worth of items in it. He asked me to come with and help him because he can NOT lift heavy items due to health issues. I already helped him at US Bank literally 10 minutes before arriving at your location. They just had me hand over my license and sign a paper. When I was there at Wells Fargo an employee told me that I could not go back there with him. My father said that the box is very heavy and he needs help. The lady went to go ask to see if it'd be ok, she came back and said I still can't help him. I said "is someone going to help him then ? He's 70, and handicapped and the box weighs 70lbs"... the lady then said she'll go see what she can do to help. She returned with a cart and said that's all they can do in terms of accommodation. I expressed again that he'll need help lifting the box due to his health and I was then ignored. Shortly afterwards the manager walked by and helped push the cart. I called afterwards to speak with a branch manager but you weren't in. And was transferred to the manager that was there when I was. I was told that no one said anything to her about needing help... but then I caught her in her owns lies because literally within minutes she admitted that the other lady did mention that my father did state that he can't lift the box without help. But she interpreted as he just needed a cart ! She then said she was NOT going to have an employee lift a heavy box, anyways. But then I said not even for a handicapped 70 year old ? She then said of course they'd help, IF someone said something. Again, another contradiction. Twice the lady went to her in regards to my father needing help and twice she came back saying the manager said no and all they can do is a cart. Then she claims the lady never said anything about him needing help, and claims I never asked or said anything... again- another contradiction... she already admitted that my father and I had said something about the box being heavy and my father can't lift it, hence why she had the lady bring him a cart. Check the cameras!!! I kept asking for help, he asked for help. And I stated his age and him being handicapped. More than once ! A manager shouldn't be lying to make themselves look good. Listen to the phone call, I'm sure it's recorded... You'll hear all the contradictions and admissions. She also felt it necessary to express that she's handicapped as well, as if it makes my father's situation less than what it was. Completely undermining everything. All in all, not even an apology. I've never felt so much shady-ness at a Wells Fargo until today. This is something that I feel I should share with the local news. I also feel like their lack of empathy was race motivated. Handicapped 70 year old asks for help at Wells Fargo branch with heavy box and has request denied and ignored twice ! Is given a cart. Tomorrow I'd like to come by and discuss this matter and see what I can do in regards to taking this as far up as necessary so this does not happen to another PAYING CUSTOMER. We're supposed to be "high valued" customers, but evidently that's just a sham.
